Week 1: Like Old Movie Characters

8-20-2002

Well, all three of us (Leon, Shirley, and I) moved in here for good yesterday and hauled in all our stuff. Ben was there to lend company, hands, and oh yeah, wheels. Most of the afternoon was spent doing rough organizing and chair-building (Leon’s took about 45 seconds; mine took... uh, a really long time, and also my desk was falling apart). When we were through tearing around, the place looked surprisingly great. It’s not flashy, or post-modernistic, or art-deco, or any of that other nonsense; it just looks nice, comfortable, and home-y.

So the four of us marched off to Gypsy’s and ate. Once again, I ate some stuff that I had already eaten before because I always forget the name of it and end up ordering it again because it looks good in the description.

Then Ben drove us to Safeway and we bought a massive load of stuff. After that it was pretty much random stuff at the apartment (mostly TV) until about 11:30, when Shirley and I watched A.I..

Today it was just more random errands. I cleaned some of the place up, organized stuff, that kind of thing. I ate a big salad that I made for myself at lunch time. And I turned the bed around. And played a good bit of guitar. It all sounds so droll when you put it in words, but I’m sure things will start heating up once class actually starts.

Yeah, so there’s not much to say of yet today either (although right now it’s only 9:00 AM). Shirley and I watched an absurd amount of TV last night whilst Leon spent about the same amount of time out a small group leader training. Best show out of the lot, by a long shot, was Gilmore Girls. Normally I would say this with shame, and while trying to cover my face, but it actually is a great show. They edit it in such a way that you get rapid-fire dialogue like the old movies, and the characters don’t speak like normal TV or movie characters. They speak like old movie characters. THAT’S COOL MAN.
