Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia - Tuesday, August 7, 2001

After the prayer meeting, about half of our group (who attended) waited for the other half (who didn't) to arrive (they didn't). Leon, taking his usual command at times like these, quickly got together with some of the church members and re-divided us into new groups. Helen and I were grouped up with Seegii, Naraa (the small Naraa), and Baigalaa. We shipped ourselves off in buses and wound up in the really big street where all the apartment buildings were. Splitting into two smaller groups (one for each side of the street: Seegii and I on one and Naraa, Baigalaa, and Helen on the other), we strolled down the long road, praying for the people and against the numerous bars that flourished along the sides.

Near the end of the road, we stopped and went to pay a visit to Saruul's home, but no one answered the door, so we headed back, but not before saying good-bye to Seegii, who went to work, and Naraa, who went home in a crazy-mouse. Baigalaa, Helen, and I rode back to church in a bus.

Ah, the kids showed up today! We did all kinds of fun stuff: we made crosses with our i-Zone pictures taped to them (I felt so sorry for Helen because she cut out so many crosses and we ended up not using a lot of them), we made shakers out of paper plates and beans, we made flowers out of colored tissues, and we played this game called "The Silent Statue" (in which Tony cheated by grunting "crunch!"). Vincent also stamped a red cross deep into my forehead that took a while to get out with one of Gloria's wet wipe things.

At night we went to eat at City Coffee with Tulga and Tseegi! They showed us their wedding pictures, and we got to see all the church members dressed up nicely and everything. It was great (Dembee looked especially cool with a suit). On the way back, they picked up a couple more photos from the developers that hang around in the square.

Leedah and I take our mug shots, with our stamped foreheads (thanks to Medic) and our pinto bean plate shakers. Grrr.
Helen is in the very middle of the picture, helping all them kids make their colored tissue flowers better than mine. How does she do it?
Wayne, Tuul, me, Tuya, Cindy, Saruul, and Baigalaa hang around outside. That stamp on my forehead sure is distracting (but then again, I'm distracting with or without the stamp).
Ah, "Killer." The traditional volleyball bump-and-pass game with a cruel and violent (not to mention fun) twist.
We have another outside picture here, with Wayne, Tuul, the dude that followed us, Tuya, Cindy, and me standing in the back.
In the square again, after eating at City Coffee with Tulga and Tseegi. We saw their wedding pictures, which were GREAT! Everybody looks so good when they're dressed up.
This is an entirely random picture of me looking dorky, sitting on my bed in our new room (204), which we got after Tony rammed the door down with his shoulder in 203. Timer shot.
